Brother is interested in them. Cannot talk about outdoor edge without talking about havalon. Havalon is great.

I bought the swing blade last year after seeing my buddy use one to take care of an elk. To say the least, I was amazed. I have used it on 4 deer since purchasing and absolutely love it. Great concept, sharp blades.

I use the swing blade a lot. I love it for opening up deer and hogs. The steel on knife isn't the best, but if you spend the time to sharpen it right, you can skin 6 deer and about 100 geese before needing to re-sharpen.

Any advantage to the outdoors edge vs. Havalon?

I've had both and love the swingblade. The Havalon is nice, but I have found that the blades break fairly easily. Have used my swingblade for about 4 years now and wouldn't trade it.

I have broke one havalon blade. It had already cleaned numerous animals and was dullish, and I was going to town fast and furious on a thick-skinned hog. I'll chalk that one up to human error, but I get your point.

swingblade is nice. I picked one up this year and have used it a few times. both blades are nice but I don't like the awkwardness of changing blades with them being on the same piece... They make the same thing but both fold down called the flip-n-zip. Same thing but both fold independently.

I have the swing blade and flipNzip and find myself always using the swing blade. Thought it was backward at first until I started using it.

The blade on the havalon doesn't look very strong not much more than a replaceable blade stanley razor knife. Are they pretty strong? The blade on the razor blaze looks like there could be a lot of build up between the blade and the holder, has anybody had any experience with this?

I've broke more than a few blades on the Havalon when processing hogs (and stabbed myself once blush). So, I only use it for cleaing the rear plumbing. I use my Buck and a few different Cabela skinning knives for the rest of the job.

Now, the swing blade is something that I was introduced to earlier this year through the TYHP. All the hunt masters had them, and I was impressed. I bought one for my daughter. She had to have a pink version, and she used it this weekend to clean a doe that she harvested during her Texas Youth Hunt. The gut hook was awesome.

I have been looking for a new knife and just purchased a Outdoor Edge Swingblade after reading good reviews on here. A buddy I hunt with uses the Havalon but I have honestly seen him break the blade every time he has used it. He might be using it incorrectly but it gave me a bad impression of them. The last thing I want to do with bloody hands is change the extremely sharp blade on those things.

I bought the Real Avid Viscera on a black friday deal for $20 bucks, gutted and skinned 1 deer then 2 weeks later tried to do the same thing and the knife was dull as hell. What do you expect using a 20 dollar knife right?

Anyway, I am excited to get the Swingblade in and try it out!

I have both the havalon and the swingblade and love each of them. A buddy of mine was using his swingblade knife on a hog last week and broke the blade. I was holding the leg and saw when it happened or I would not have believed it. I haven't looked into it but assume there is some sort of warranty for that. The hog was a big nasty boar but the hunter wanted him lol.
