Well, for a long time i’ve heard folks gripe about the Remington 22 ammo quality. But I wasn’t having any problems. Today though, I ran out of some Federal ammo I had in the house, so I went to the barn workshop to get ammo. I had Remington ammo there, and my 9422, which I keep out there, always ate it with no complaints. Not so with the Marlin. My 39A had issues feeding the Remington stuff and I had one FTF out of 20 rounds fired. Got some more Federal out of the gunsafe and it fed and shot great. Guess I’ll get some more Federal for the house.
The Remington ammo I have is a few years old. Is the newer ammo from them any better quality?

I think it's just the cheapest stuff that sucks, i.e. Thunderbolt. Remington Yellow Jacket and Sub Sonic have been decent in my opinion. But EVERYONE'S promotional level stuff is better than Thunderbolt. I think it's the worst .22 rimfire ammo in the world and I've thought so for the last 25 years.

Yup. I'll never spend another dime on Remington Thunderbolt.
Has anyone else noticed the word "Remington" and poor quality control, are becoming synonymous?

Maybe "Remington" and "quality control" don't belong in the same sentence.

I've stopped feeding anything but CCI into my semi-autos, unless it's match ammo. It may be a few pennies more but I hate jams with a passion.

I also have quit shooting Thunderbolts. The last straw was when one jammed in my 10/22 and required substantial work to remove it. After I got it out, noticed that the bullet was "square". Whatever process Remington uses to create the round nose evidently was skipped on this round. Sorted through the rest of the box and found another just like it. Did not think to take a photo, just tossed the two rounds. Only CCI now...

I’d quit buying them, but I already bought them. So, I have plenty to shoot up. Happily, like I mentioned, the 9422 seems to have no problem feeding and shooting them. And they seem to be plenty accurate in the 9422. But...I won’t buy more.
I wonder If Remington actually produced the Thunderbolt ammo or if they subcontracted with some low grade manufacturer to have it produced.

I bought a case of Thunderbolt in the early 80's. When the "ammo shortages" happened people were fool enough to pay $5 a box for it. I use T-Bolt for practice, good for malfunction training.
