 22LR ammo - acceptable for semi

I have my old 39A for short range varmint control here at the ranch. For years, all the ammo I used was random this or that, but when my in-house stock ran low I bought some CCI Comp. Shoots great and the box says it’s also for semi use. That’s the only box of 22LR I have that says that. Heck, I thought all 22 LR ammo was good in semi 22 rifles. So, is this a sales ploy or is this just really higher level ammo? It does shoot very well.

CCI also makes the CB 22s they will not cycle a semi. That’s probably why they designate that and others do not. If you’ve never played with CBs they definitely have an advantage when it comes to close range Varmint control.
