OK I had a mix of ammo...Some 55 grain factory ammo Remington, some 50 grain v-max that I loaded with 34gr of varget, and some 65 grain Sierra spitzers I loaded, can't remember the powder load, but it was Varget.

The 65 grains were all over the place and some even looked as it hit sideways...Does this mean my barrel doesn't stabilize these?

The group's with the 50 grain v-max bullets I zeroed the scope with and my best groups were no bigger than a quarter.

The 55 grain factory ammo were shooting about 1.5-2" groups but were hitting way low from where the zero was from the 50gr.

The variation was very drastic...I'm assuming this is normal?

Yes on the 65gr not being stable.

Yes and yes, its normal to have different bullets hit at different POI and looks like your barrel does not stabilize the 65 grain bullets. What is your twist?

I don't know...I believe with the handi rifles (ultra varmint)...They are either 1:9 or 1:12

I'm guessing mine is 1:12...And it's a 24" bull barrel.

I'm guessing that you do have the 1:12. If so you can likely forget the 65s.

I would bet you have the 1-12, most factory 22-250 barrels are 1-12 or 1-14

If you have a 1 in 12 twist, you might have luck with the 60 gr Partition and the 64 gr Nosler Bonded Solid Base. They were borderline stabilizing (depended on weather conditions) in my 1 in 14 twist 220 barrel. You need a short stumpy bullet. Also, I'm very sure the Sierra 63 gr SMP would work, and work well. It's a good shooting bullet.

Another vote for the Sierra 63 grain SMP.

Great info...The 50gr VMAX shoot very tightly. Was willing to just stay with those, but would like a heavier option.

Any way to get sample bullets so don't have to buy 100 just to test?

I loaned that 220 to a buddy for a hog hunting trip. I loaded up the 63 the Sierras for him and he said it killed em like a laser beam, as long as they weren't monster hogs.
