All of you reloaders ...... When you find the favorite load for a rifle, do you load a bunch? Or just a couple dozen? I know that we all like to tinker, and there's always a "new & improved" powder or bullet on the horizon.

I load 50 at a time for .243 and above, mostly because the storage boxes I keep them in hold 50. .223 and handgun ammo I load up a bunch at a time as I generally shoot more of it per session.

Depends on what I have coming up.
Generally, I have 50 rounds ready to go for every rifle. If I know I've got lots of shooting coming up, I'll load up to 250 at a time.
None of that happens in one day, though.

With my 6.5, I found a load that worked well and stockpiled enough powder and bullets to load 1k. I'd feel comfortable loading several hundred of them if I had a need to.
With my pistol, I've got at least 1k of each of my particular loads ready to go, but that's just because I load when I have time and shoot at least a few hundred rounds every week.

Thanks guys .... that confirms that I'm not a packrat. When I find a load that is a proven performer I usually load 300 rounds and try to keep that amount on hand. And since I'm loading for 6 different rifles that results in quite a pile of ammunition.

I'm not a competition shooter, so my views may be different. I only load a box of 20 or so at a time, and it will usually last me 2 years, although I fill the box again every year. I would dearly love to shoot more, but I'm Mr. mom it seems like and don't have time for chit anymore.

I guess I am the odd one out here I will load until out of brass which for some guns that may be 300-500 on rifle and pistol I keep about 3-4k of 9mm and about 1-2k of 40 and 45 loaded. That being said I may not load as often as i would like (life gets in the way sometimes) but I always keep a good stash ready so that I can shoot any time

For my pistols I keep lots of brass, primers, powder and do a lot of pistol reloading in the winter time. My reloading room is in the house so it is easy to just go in and reload.

Yes and for 2 main reasons.......
1. Because I hate being out of ammo for any gun; especially my hunting rifles & you never know when a last minute hunting/shooting invite will pop up.
2. Component lots change and so do PRICES- I watch online sites for good deals on components, especially the premium EXPENSIVE bullets and when I catch them on clearance I stock up and process my brass over time until I have a pile of components to load all at once.
I remember one summer I caught a clearance of .257 Barnes 100gr. TSX, on midwayusa.com and when I sat down and figured everything up I was saving $7.00 per box of 20rnds I loaded for my .257wby on projectiles alone and it was costing me $15 per box of 20 to load compared to the factory 100gr TSX load which was $79.99 per box at the time.
Did the same thing with my .270win and I was able to load 140gr. Hornady BTSP for $8.60 per box of 20 and 140gr Accubonds for $14.00 a box.
