45-70 Govt? Why, cast bullets of course! I shoot a 310, 360, and a 435; all of my designs. Rifle was a 1895G left it for a Rossi Rio Grande. Also just purchased a Navy Arms-Gibbs Summit, been looking for one of these for a few years!

As far as purchasing bullets; Beartooth Piledrivers. These are the 425 & 525 bullets on the 45 Caliber (Rifle) page.

I bet that is a purty rifle. I got a Henry and my son in law has a Marlin. Sure do love that 45-70 it is a hog thumper. If you get a chance you should post a pic

I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

Another vote for the same. Excellent on hogs. It'll blow a feeder leg off too but that's another story. Haven't tried 'em on deer yet but hopefully I get a chance this season for that.

I only shoot the lever revolution bullets and love em. 3 inches high at 100 puts them dead on at 200.

That is for sure!

If you are going to reload the FTX you may run into OAL issues and you will need a Hornady seater plug.

Thanks.
That's what I've read. Brass need to be trimmed back to a point where die won't crimp the brass.
Does rcbs make the seater stem? Will a Hornady stem work in an rcbs?

Nice rifle...but yeah, if you can put your hands on a Ranch Dog mold and a few pounds of lead, that's the bees knees.

I let my mold go with the .45-70 I had or I'd make you a few dozen to try.

I shoot a Marlin 1985G. Reload with Hornady 300Gr HP. I've shot the leverevolution, but never reloaded them. As there is no scope, I see no reason to try to stretch beyond 100 yards anyhow.

My head always thinks Marlin, you might not have to trim brass for the Winchester-Browning.

The combined technology 300gr bullets are downright nasty on terminal, and very precise out of my guide gun. 2350fps, single ragged hole at 50yards.
