The standard 150 spitzers from Weatherby work just fine. I shoot NP's but that's just me.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

If your talking average size deer just about anything will work! I load Barnes 180 gr. Triple Shock in our 2, but I'm loading for Elk in New Mexico.

I have shot deer with

165 grain GMX
220 grain hornady round nose
200 grain Nosler Partitions
180 grain factory wby amo

All have resulted in plenty dead deer. Favorites would be the partitions or the 180 gr factory loads. The GMX's didn't expand sometimes and the 220 grain round nose had a tendancy to create HUGE wound channels, I wont shoot anything with them I intend to eat.

It's hell eatin em live

My theory with the .300Wby is either heavy and soft or light and hard.

I hunted for years with 180gr. Balistic tips; because at long range they would still expand quite well; the 150gr. partitions work well also but for all around hunt everything from regular deer to exotics and elk I would suggest.....

165gr. Accubonds - Good trajectory with the performance of a partition.

If you want some quality Wby ammo, let me know! I can save you money, and have much better ammo. I have pulled many bullets on the Wby ammo, and the powder charge behind the bullet will amaze you at how inconsistent it is.
