Just starting to load for this round due to a new AR-10 build and am wondering if there's any loads that seem to work great in just about any rifle.

So far I've bought 140 grain Nosler BT's.

The powders I have on hand to try are CFE 223, IMR 8208 XBR, IMR 4064, IMR 4350, AR Comp, Varget, IMR 4166, and A 4350.

My go to load for years was a 140gr Nosler Partition in front of 46.5gr of IMR4350. 30 years ago that was listed below max load but see now it is over max, still shoots great from my gun. Same load with 140gr BT is under 1/2 MOA if I do my part.

Caution those loads are safe in my rifle but are above current listed max loads so use at your own risk.

The other powder I have burned a lot of in the 7mm-08 with 140gr BT and partitions is 41.5 gr Varget. All loads were loaded just short enough to cycle reliably through the mag.

Varget works very well.

Varget is what I use. But with a heavier bullet.

My best load is 42 grains of IMR 4064, Nosler Ballistic hunting tip 140 grain set .020 off of the ring lands.
This is in a 1 in 11 twist barrel. Best group at 100 yards .25 MOA. I know everybody seems to like Varget but I could not get it to group as well.

I use a similar load with 140 grain SGK's. It's a good one. cheers

Is 140 grain what really shines in this caliber? I notice a lot of data is in this range.

I'm really hoping this caliber shines in the AR platform. I've been wanting a 7-08 rifle for years.

I really appreciate the help as always.
