I ran out of the old lot of H-4350. The former load was 42.4 gr. The Heatstroke open is in a couple of weeks so I had better make darn sure the rifle and load are in top shape. I did load 50 of 42.4 gr and had immediately notcied the new lot of powder was slower than the old lot. Old DOPE no longer worked 500 yards +. So I loaded these test groups and tried them yesterday. The wind was not helping, but I had to do it when I had the time. The first group I purposfully dialed less elevation than what I needed for 300 yards. Every subsequent group I dialed up .3 Mil higher to spread them out for reading. No pressure signs on anything, and 42.8 gr clocked in an average MV of 2838 fps with a 140 gr. A-max. ES of 11.

+1. I do the same every time I open a new lot.

You got it!! Every time! I try to buy 2- 8# jugs (16 lbs) of the same powder lot for 1 barrel. With a 6.5 case that will get about 2800-3000 rounds, or 1 barrel worth.

I didn't have 16 of the same lot when I cooked the 260 barrel and started on the 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Had two different powder lots of 8 pounders. Gotta do what I gotta do.
Now if someone could find for me 16 pounds of H-4350 I'll be set for the next barrel.

Mix the powders thoroughly and then pour it back into the containers. You can do this with two eight #s or eleven one #s or whatever amount you have. Worked back in the 70's and will work today.

Yessir. The two eights I have left are different lots and I remembered that trick right after I loaded these. Not a huge problem. Once I get into the next 8 I'll load these four test groups again.

Good luck finding any more H4350. I'm going to try the new imr as it's a good bit more available.
