Tried some loads with my bolt .223 yesterday . Very nice powder, meters great through Charge Master . Very low ES and SD. Very accurate. I ordered a box of the 69gr Tipped Match Kings today from Midway. Will try them out and report back

yep but let's just keep this to ourselves. cool
I have used it from .223 to 6.5 Creedmoor and it's a good powder... I personally like it better than Varget which I now rarely use.
I just got two more 8 lb of it.

I keep seeing such good reports for this powder, I will try it if the CFE 223 that I have several pounds of doesn't work well in the Grendel. For velocity it will not reach the CFE but does match 8208 XBR which is another good powder for consistency from what I have heard.

You have my attention. How hard is this powder to get? If I can get enough, I could make it my dedicated AR powder.

Thanks for sharing. I get awesome groups with 77 SMK but I only have the 75 BTHP left.

Down here in Houston it's in just about every store that sells powder. It's a stick powder but I haven't had any issues with it in my measure.

I've been looking at trying some different powders to get my .223's shooting better. A few months back, on a whim, I bought a lb of AR-Comp to try. I've also been experimenting with some home-made bullets using .22lr cases for bullet jackets. I went to the books & figured 23.5gr of powder was a good starter load to work up from. I set the measure & cranked out a baggie full using my 55gr bullets with LC brass & CCI 400's set to 2.25". Here is the results at 100yds from my Ruger #3.

My AR has been a problem rifle accuracy-wise since I built it. I'm more of a single-shot sort of guy, but I built the AR on the cheap just to see what all the excitement was about. I must admit I learned a lot & enjoy popping off rounds for the pure fun of shooting! I ordered all my parts from PSA including a PTAC barreled upper. The barrel is 1-7" which is what I wanted because I like heavier bullets. With a scope the AR shot around 4" at 100yd with cheap factory ammo. Struggling with handloads I got the groups down to about 2" to 2.5" using 77gr Sierras. I've been told that with the cheap PTAC barrel that is about as good as it gets & I should be "singing in the kitchen"...LOL With my brass jacketed 55gr bullets I got some encouraging results.

I can't wait to refine these loads with AR-Comp to see what I can get out of my guns. Wonder what some match grade 52gr's will do? BTW: I bought another lb at the Fredricksburg gun show this weekend for $28. The vender had plenty but no jugs bigger than a 1-lb.

FWIW
