Was wondering your guys recommendation for one bullet to handle a 50 to 700 yard shot. Bullet should be able to handle a shoulder shot at close range or at 700 yards.
I love the 195s Eols but wonder about them with a direct shoulder hits.
The eld-x and closer range give me concern. Hornady only shows pictures of impact under 2600 FPS.
My only elk was taken with a 270 win with the 150 Nosler Partition. One shot DRT at about 330 yards. Leaning to the 175 NP.

If the partitions provides sufficient accuracy then I don't think you could find a better bullet.

I have had customers take game from less than 100 yards to over 1000 yards already with the 28 Nosler. Most use the 195. Several have used 175 ELD-X and the 180 Berger's. If your rifle has the 1:8" twist and can accommodate the 195 Berger's, I would not hesitate on the 195. That bullet is freakin' awesome. Without knowing what rifle you have, it's hard to tell you which bullet. The magazine length can be an issue with the 28 Nosler. Any of the 3 bullets we are talking about would be outstanding for elk. After all, you are shooting a 28 Nosler here.

I have a 8 twist 26 in barrel. I am running the 195s at 3012 with retumbo. The 195s shot well with minimum load development.

Perfect! I'd go that route in a heart beat.
