I just got two 50 piece Nosler brass boxes of the same lot, would it be ok to throw two of those boxes together for a 100 piece batch?

I don't even look at brass lot number.

Brass prep, primer quality, powder charge consistency, and bullet relation to the lands tuning is far more important.

Loads on the brass and annealing cycle is more important than lot number.

I've got 200 pieces of 7 Rem Mag with two firings, and has been cleaned. A partial box of 50 more are in the truck. Once that box gets fired, it'll need cleaning, and every piece will get annealed, sized, trimmed. Then I'll have all the brass the same as it needs to be.

Only problem is, once this last box gets fired I am smooth out of loaded ammo for that rifle, I'll have to get to work to get it shooting again.

Last 200 pieces of nosler brass I bought was all + or- 0.5 gr. It comes weigh sorted. Others opinions may vary but part of what you paid for is weigh sorted brass with nosler. I would weigh a few out of each box to see how close they are before I decided to mix it or not. It just depends on whether you think it makes a difference or not.

99% of the time it should be fine, but sometimes different lot numbers of brass weigh different. We have had some lots of 28 Nosler brass be heavier/lighter. It was enough to alter the load by .5 grain. The heavier brass generally has less internal case volume, giving you more pressure, and effecting the load. So, it can matter.

When it comes to my high precision, long range ammo, like for my 7mm/300 Win Mag, I do weigh the cases and sort them.

When I get a chance, I'll weigh them all and sort them.

I am not looking to stir the pot or raise a stink as I'm not a professional loader. I'm rather bringing to light something related to this subject I just recently read and think might be of good taste in this thread. It appears to me that case weight may be less important than case capacity. Obviously they may be related but weight may not directly affect the other. I can only imagine that weighing them is much easier and less time consuming than measuring capacity. I have never sorted by capacity. What say those with more experience?

Chad, once you do your sorting, do you alter the charge for differing weights of brass? How much adjustment would you do on a 6.5 Creed?

Don't waste your time. They are the same lot, that is the entire purpose of having lot numbers.

Some of the brass we have seen has been 12-20 grain heavier/lighter. And yes, we had to alter the powder charge for the case weights.

I think that would depend on whether lot numbers are assigned before, or AFTER weight sorting. Do you know anything about this, Chad?

Within the same lot? If that's true you need to contact Nosler, that's [censored]. If it's two different loss then I could buy that but the OP is talking same lot.
