Found a Winchester Pre-64 barreled action in 6.5x68. Any thoughts on this?

Cool cartridge, if you can find brass and supplies. It's sort of an unbelted Euro .264 WinMag.

Interesting, never heard of that one. I load for a friend and his 6.5x57's brass was not the easiest to acquire. Seems like it could be similar to the 6.5-06 ack imp.

Can't go wrong with a pre-64 barreled action---unless the cartridge it's set up for just won't feed, extract or eject. It may not be such a sticky problem with the M70 CRF action, but I'd double check. Not a damn thing wrong with the cartridge performance-wise, but there again I'd double check to make sure I was willing to do what it might take to keep the rifle fed.

That might be a tricky conversion since the rim of a 6.5-06 is .473 and the X68 rim is ,512 inches. It would probably be easier to modify to a belted magnum than a 06 sized case.

With brass available I would really consider getting it and a good supply of brass. The cartridge nips closely on the heels of the 264 Win Mag and has a slightly rebated rim without a belt.

That is one cartridge rarely seen in this country.

Hehehe...right. Lost sight of the fact the barreled action is already converted. If brass can be had without giving up an arm and/or gonad, why not go for it? If it comes close to the .264 than it's gotta be a great cartridge performance wise, and has lots of cool factor for being unusual.
