So a few Months ago I got a Browning Abolt3 7mm-08 and finally got a scope for it and today I toke it to the gun range. I was shooting Hornady 139gr SST Superperformace and unfortunately after shooting two boxes I had two misfires out of one box and three out of the next Misfire. As you can see in the picture (if I loaded the pic it right) the firing pin struck then but that failed to fire. I even put one of the shells back in and tried to shoot it again but all I heard was the click, so that would lead me to believe that it was indeed the shell and not the gun. I am kinda stunned because I can hardly ever remember having a Rifle Misfire, much less 5 out of 40. (The misfired rounds are on the left of the pic) Has any one had this issue with this Ammo or perhaps this rifle missfiring???

I'm not positive but looking at the left 8 rounds, I think I see 6 light primer strikes. Or at least, lighter than the rest. Did you clean the bolt and firing pin?

Seems the firing pin did not strike the primers hard enough on those that misfired. I would open the bolt and check the spring and clean them up, sometimes when its very cold the grease on the spring / firing pin tend to harden and reduce its capability to hit the primers hard enough.

Thanks for the feedback guys.... The reason I would have thought it was the Bullet and not the gun is because after I shot several more rounds, I put one of the shells back in and it misfired again.

Since you can't positively identify the cause, I would start as directed already by stripping the bolt and cleaning it well. Then you can "maybe" see if it is the gun or the ammunition. Although there will still exist the possibility of a defective spring or firing pin.
It's not common, but I have seen new rifles with bad pins or springs. And these weren't cheapo rifles. One was a Ruger and the other was a Weatherby.

Your right, I was not crazy about trying it again. I only loaded the one round and left it pointing down range and left the bolt closed for a min or so just to make sure...but agree I probably shouldn't have.

Misfires happen, some more than others. You shoot enough, and some will not go bang. Seen it many times with the best of ammo and match primers.
Trying to reshoot an unfired round is fine. Most will go bang on the second time. If it doesn't go bang on second try, it generally won't. Most of the time it's a primer issue. The misfires I have had and seen were primer related.
If the rifle is making a solid primer hit, then it should go bang. Switch ammo if need.
If you have had any pierced primers in the past or crud getting into the bolt/firing pin, this can cause the firing pin to not travel as far into the primer. This has happened to me when piercing primers and crud gets blown into the bolt and firing pin area.

X2 - There is nothing more dangerous about a misfired round (for which proper misfire protocol has been followed) than an unfired round.
