Anyone shooting lighter bullets in their 6mm creedmoor? I bought 1000 Sierra 85 grain bthp and no longer have a 243 and want to shoot them or at least see what they will do. A starting point without damage would be great. I have looked around the net but haven't found much info except for 105 grains. Just something I want to tinker with. Thank you.

What's your twist rate?

What powder do you plan to use?

It's an 8 twist. I know I'm defeating the purpose of the cartridge but I can't leave well enough alone

Mine never saw a bullet besides the 105 hybrid in its 1500rd life.

That seems easy enough.... Just start at max loads that you have found with 105 gr bullets and work up from there.

Right now I'm pretty sure I'm running 41.5 grains h4350. Shoots awesome at around 3150 ft/sec. That's with Hornady 105 amax. It's raining so off to the man cave to get to tinkering. Thanks for all the responses.

I only shoot 105 hybrids out mine. Pretty much same load as mention above.

The 6CM and 6mm (243) are extremely close in case capacity. IMR4064 is hard to beat in the 243, and it would be a good powder for your application. With the lack of available data, I would start with published loads for the 85/243 combination ON THE LOW END and work up slowly watching for pressure signs as you progress. Go slow and in .3 increments, because while this seems a reasonable approach it is still "no man's land" without any firm data to work off of. If IMR4064 isn't available, H4350 would also be a good choice. Of course, use the H4350 data in that case.
