3.630 is a 20/1000 jump in my rifle. Not sure where that may put the bullet in your paticular chamber.

Every rifle will be different. You will have to measure your own. Load a bullet into an empty case with no primer and no powder. Hold the bullet over a kitchen match so that the bullet is covered in soot. Gently place it in the chamber and close the action. Gently extract it, and look for marks made by the lands (rifling). They will appear as a small square at regular intervals around the bullet at the ogive. The ogive is where the curve of the bullet straightens out into the flat length of the body of the bullet. You do not want the bullets jamming into the rifling as that causes a pressure spike early in the timeline. Keep re-coating with soot and setting back 0.010" at a time until there are no more contact marks showing up.

How to set a coal easily. Try this. For safety reasons always find the coal for your specific rifle.

I'm running 76.8 gr H1000 under a 208 amax in my custom 300WM. Shooting under Sub MOA out to 600 yds so far. The rifle is a custom build with a Lilja stainless match barrel, 1:10 @ 27". Seating them long, with .010" jump. COAL is 3.648". To determine COAL, I used a method similar to what Jeff described. Works very well. 5 shots, 300 yds 3 shots, 600 yds, 2.34"

Thanks Jeff, they are running around 2850 fps. I'm loving the 208's. Dropped a doe at 200 yds this season. Can't wait to shoot something a little further out.

I'm running a 200 NAB @ 2890 with 71 grains of 4831. If I could find the hybrid berger's they would be my first choice. Don't like shooting a bonded bullet for hunting at long range.
