I just got a Kimber 4in 1911. I have everything but bullets. Shooting paper for the most part will buy hp ammo when i carry it. Anyone got a favorite load, I've never loaded for the 45 and i have a couple handbooks but wanted a little info from someone who has a commander size. Happy with the factory ammo just a little pricy.

Thanks

I reload my 45s with Rainer leadsafe bullets, titegroup powder, and winchester or cci primers. Great target rounds and alot cheaper than buying winchester white box for practice.

I shoot them thru a fullsize 1911 so not the commander model you are using.

Same components here, except I use Bullseye. Love those Rainer bullets (price and quality).

I get the Rainiers from Midway. I just got some 230 grains for $125 for 1000. Normally they are $140 per 1000

Thanks going to need some soon.
Last I bought about 5 years ago were 36$ per 500 for RN cast 230grs. Should have stocked up then.

Thanks, Those are some good sites. Think I am going to stick with the FMJ. Using the cast I sometimes get to much lead shaving unless I really open the case mouth up.

Precision Delta has 230 gr FMJ copper jacketed bullets for $116.00 per thousand shipped. You have to buy 2000 at a time, but you can mix and match calibers. My favorite load is 6.0 gr Unique, 230 FMJ bullet, CCI 300 primer, WW case.

Were you using a 0.451" or a 0.452" bullet?

Were you using a bevel base bullet?

I think I have loaded about 1,000,000 cast bullets in the past 20+ years. Never had that problem.

*** Be sure to use a taper crimp.
