Season opens next Monday and I'm not ready. Going to try to get to the range tomorrow with my 50 cal. Traditions. Will try some 295 grain Powerbelts with 100 grain equivlant of Blackthorn 209 behind them. Used to shoot the TC 250 Power Shock but accuracy varied a little at times. h

hangfire, stay with a shabot...try the Barnes bullets..they have an easyload version.

If the accuracy varies is it the bullet or the barrel...are you swabbing the barrel after each shot?

In my opinion, Powebelt bullets are horrible on game.

First inline I bought is a Traditions 45 cal. First deer I kiled with it I was using 250 gr. Powerbelt bullet with three 50 gr. Pyrodex pellets. The bullet really fragmented when it hit the deer. I got tired of the recoil from the 150 gr. of powder and switched to TC Powershock sabots in 250 gr. with 100 gr. Pyrodex. I did shoot both of my 50s yesterday with 100 gr. Blackthorn 209 and the 295 gr. Powerbelt, The Persuit put two bullets in a one inch circle, the Omega was near the bulls eye but moved around. I checked it out today and I think the scope mount was loose. Will try ro shoot again maybe tomorrow or Friday. I don't swab between shots. h

I always swab between shots...but I do not use the Blackhorn 209 which is suppose to allow you to get away without swabbing the barrel as frequently. Have heard good things about it. With Triple 7 or WhiteHots you can get away with two shots but after that the build up can be an issue.
