Does anyone know why TPWD has special regulations for Dallas, Grayson, and Collin Counties, where crossbows aren't permitted until General Season? Setting aside the internal debate about whether crossbows should or should not be permitted during bow season overall, why would there be a different law for just 3 counties??

The only thing I can surmise is that maybe they're concerned that harvest numbers would be higher, but that's what the county harvest quotas are for.

Any ideas?

I do know that they do not allow firearms to be used during General season in those three counties. Don't know if that has anything to do with them not letting you use crossbows during archery season or not.

If they're not allowing firearms, my thought is they want to reduce the possibility of injury in populated areas. It does seem odd that they won't allow them (xbows) in the bow season but will in the general...
