Probably been talked to Death...But my RF took a dump, I looked at few in classifieds..but always nervous of optics used. Been liking the Leica Rangemaster and the Swarovski Rangefinder Binos..thoughts

Well I thought I spent big on a Leupold. I don't have a clue about the ones I can't afford . . .

It is handy to have the rangefinding Bino's but do you really want electronics in your high end Bino's. The Bino's part have the great lifetime Warranty while the rangefinder portion is not.

As handy as the combo's are I will keep the electronics separate from the high end optics for my $.

Have been using a Leupold RX-1000 for 5 years or so and still going, hope goes another 5 at least.

I prefer separate units. I love my Swaro binos, but I want my rangefinder as a different item. I like to be able to just have the rangefinder on a tether on my belt. The combo units are not good for that.

I've actually been real happy with the vortex ranger 1000 I bought. The new luepy 1200 is very nice as well.

Thats a great point Kmon1, never thought about that..Dave I ain't gotta clue on weight Amigo, I need to go physically hold some..But I think Junior and Craig just answered my question and gonna shy away from the combo Chingly..Whats gonna happen the first time the range portion messes up and I have a set of knocs with a inoperable function..

I will look at that Vortex...Man I DONT care for there scopes but will take a peek...Thanks Gents up

Few ounces. Every year I end up hunting with someone that has the combo unit, every year I say I'm going to upgrade to them because it's so much more convenient. Every year I end up just booking another hunt instead...lol

But I'll eventually get one.

Only thing that bugs me is the swaro unit button is on the left side. Inconvenient for bow hunting. Lecia came out with the new Geo's that don't have the ballistic calculator but has arc etc. probably the one I'll go with.

I also use a bino harness 100% of the time.

I have found that while the combined units are convenient the stand alone units are more accurate and have a longer range when your are talking similar price points, unless you get one of the vectronics combination units. Pus I can get ranges alot easier while behind the gun with a stand alone unit.

That Bino Harness would end up hanging me rofl

I am going to look at them but..I would be worried if the range part messes up

Not the harness I use. FHF gear.

Both lecia and swaro have excellent CS, should an issue arise. Swaro is up close to the top on CS.

You're not just buying great glass your buying a top end product with a long term relationship.

Sell a Yeti(or equivalent) or two and get you Leica Geovids so you only have one thing to remember and one less thing to forget when checking your lists. If I had to buy again I would get Swaro though...you might have to sell 3 Yetis(or equivalent) though grin

We took a Vectronix to New Mexico this year that I ranged a small shed at 2000 yards but the magnification was not there to range an antelope passed about 1000. Swarovski has a 1500 yard with 8x magnification that I've been looking at.

I bought a used Leupold 1000i from a fellow member, it's been great and didn't break the bank. Even does angle compensation for bow.
