I've been scouting some public land for hogs. I've seen lots of recent sign, but I wonder with how dense the woods are and all the dry twigs and branches, is it even possible to spot and stalk? I make so much noise trying to navigate through the foliage, any critter probably hears my coming 100 yards away, plus with the trees being so thick, the line of sight at some points is limited to 30-40 yards. I'm thinking there i no way i can get close enough to get a decent shot sneaking around, even with a favorable wind.

Obviously the best way would be to setup on a stand or blind and wait for them to come to you, but I wonder if anyone else has experience in this kind of situation.

My best stalk was one that I did on a nice eight point I spotted about 200 yards away that was milling around with three does.
It was a windy afternoon and the wind was blowing from the deer toward me.
It was perfect. I had to approach walking toward them in an open grassy field with small bushes along the way and when any of the deer would look up I'd freeze.
Took me about 40 minutes or so but I got to within 20 yards of the buck and had the shot.
Oh yeah, I got that deer!

Windy days or rainy days will be your best bet. Rainy is actually best as it keeps the hogs active during the day.
