Saturday, I needed to hit the local pro shop up for a couple things. Meanwhile my son was with me and I have been entertaining getting a bow for him.

Every afternoon when we get home, his responsibility is to feed, water and let the dogs out. Then while they are doing their thing, I will shoot about 10-12 shots in the back yard and my son will watch.

I did a lot of research and I decided to pick one up for him.

We decided on Mission Archery's Craze II, he picked the color...Zombie green.

So, while we were there I spent some time with him, working on stance, form, taking aim and then releasing the arrow.

After a short time, his confidence improved and so did his aim.

Right now, we are fifteen pounds, but I'm thinking after he builds those muscles up, he will be pulling heavy weights very soon.
There is still some tweaking we need to do, I may need to short his draw length some, but we are getting it down.

Check out our day at the range yesterday.

Congrats on getting a shooting partner for Archery.

The draw looks a little long, and the peep sight a little low (tilting his head to the side to see through it. A little lower anchor point will change that look some as well. Kinda hard to tell from the videos but those are couple suggestions I see from them.

Getting a bow setup and new young shooter to have good form is sometimes a work of patience, mostly now have fun shooting with your new shooting pal.

Yeah, I was thinking something similar with his draw length. But I'm still working with him on locating a consistent anchor.

He listens, but he's six. Patience isn't his strong suite, you know what I mean?
Thankfully, that was one of the critical benefits of the Craze, everything is adjustable and the he can grow into it instead of out growing it.

I know, getting the anchor point down is one of the hardest parts with a new shooter especially with a young one. Changed a setup for an adult 4 times over 3 months, he finally got what I was trying to get him to do day 1.

Work on it in steps with him and he will get it. Patience and attention span with that age is short, keep it fun and bet he has it before long. On the poundage, keep it where it is for a while then when it starts being easy turn it up a half a turn then wait a little before doing another half turn. Surprising how fast the poundage goes up doing that.

100% agree!

I was having him shoot three arrow groups trying to get his pins aligned at home yesterday. But I see those bad habits being made and immediately want to correct them without being discouraging. I'm trying to teach him archery in the same way I did baseball. Which so far is about how it's going.

We are just going to continually work on it, but he's in love. The good news, as long as he's in to this, I don't have to worry about drugs. All of his future money will be allocated to this new addiction. LOL.

After working more, we are going to have to do a couple of things.

First, we are going to have to shorten his draw length, about am inch and a half. Plus the back wall is spongy. Although we are still having fun shooting. I am thinking that once we are able to locate the anchor point and fine tune his zero, the back wall will eventually firm up.

A lot of the time a mushy backwall is caused by the bow being out of time. Also if the limbs are not turned out the same with tiller correct they can be mushy and appear out of time.

Easy to check timing on those bows is draw it back and watch the draw stops, they should make contact with the cable at the same time, if they do not time for some correction.

Just picked up my son one this last Friday. Is it bad that I want to hunt with it before he receives it on Christmas? lol

It's a sweet little bow. Would make for a heck of a ground blind bow.

Ya I like it a lot. The only issue I have is that my girlfriend went with me and she has never shot a bow before. She tried out the Elite Spirit....I may never get a new bow.
