Alright guys, total newbie here, wanting to get into bow hunting but would like feedback on a good bow. Is it Strober, PSE, Hoyt, Matthews, or Bear any feedback appreciated. Cost is not a factor, just would like a really nice bow setup......

Don't look for a wish bone where a back bone is needed!!

Most here will tell you to go out and try several different bows. I like my Hoyt Charger which I've been plenty happy with since May. It's definitely not the most expensive bow but it's not the cheapest. I think I've got probably 750 in mine with everything on it. But you do not need a fancy high end bow to shoot well. I was shooting a good bit of 3D over the summer and was consistently out shooting another guy I know who was using a bow setup that was 500+ more than mine. The shooter makes the bow.

I would try to find a reputable archery shop in your area and just go talk to them about trying out several different bows from Bowtech, Matthews, or Hoyt. Just see which one feels best to you.

This would be my advice. Most the big manufacturers make a good bow that will last and shoot well. Key is to find one that fits you the best and fits what you are looking for in a bow.

Also, don't be affraird to go for a used bow you can get higher quality bow for around the same price. I went in and tried out the PSE Xforce drive, hoyt charger, mission ballistic, and I believe the bowtech assassin. All 4 bows were around the same price range. I ended up liking the ballistic the best for the exact reason that most people don't like it, I liked having the thicker grip. After all was said and done I ended up finding a mission blaze for around $500 fully rigged and a hard case and took it back to the same shop they set me up and tuned it to fit me. Main thing is go to a archery shop, not Cabelas or bass pro, they can give you good info of what your draw length and pounds to pull. Also, if you do end up wanting to go with a used one they might have some for sell or can tell you what to look for in a good vs bad used bow.

Be careful on older used bows, they aren't as adjustable as the newer ones. My brother bought one used and couldn't get the draw length changed so he had to sell it and ended up just buying a new one.

2011 I bought a Mathews Z-7. Yes it was expensive and worth every penny. I was afraid if I cut corners I'd regret it. I had read all the comparisons and the Z-7 won.

It's the time spent in God's creation with family and friends making memories that counts.
