What is a good make and model of pellet gun to shoot armadillos. This is for inside the city limits.

I have a Beeman .22 cal. It's a one pump with open sights. Killed countless critters with it including turkeys, opossums, skunks, cats, rats, bunnies, dozens and dozens of hogs that were trapped and other things I suppose.

I used to use a Sheridan silver streak in 20 caliber. I liked it for the variable penetration. 3 pumps would sting a cat or dog. 5 pumps would penetrate. 8 pumps was deadly on a dog, cat, coon. Dial your poison...

Just snatch them up by the tail and throw them into that one annoying neighbors back yard.

They are after the grubs in the yard. One guy said powdered Tide spread like fertilizer works. Kill the grubs and the armadillos don't dig up the yard.

See the boards funneling the armadillo into the trap, no bait required. They are not that smart

May not work for me -- I'd get more bunnies than 'dillos

I want both of them gone, don't get me wrong. But the bunnies are more tolerable than the alternative

Bunnies taste good. My aunt used to make some great rabbit sauce piquant. I don’t know about Dilla sauce piquant.

Some say bait with chicken bones but I don't think it works. A well used trap with other armadillo scent in it works good. The funnel works the best. A buddy has a big funnel on the side of his house, catches them all the time.

If the Dillos would come and meet with me and promise to stay out of the wife’s flower beds, we could live in peace.

I will respectfully disagree.

Too many other "clean" sources of meat protein to risk leprosy and other radical bacteria's - especially if you are down to survival food levels.......

Survival mode would probably change ones perception of food. But I don't want to eat one either.

I have trapped many with the above trap set up. This year it was I had to on camera and they just would hit the trap so I stayed up late and the judge took care of both of them. Them things are tough. If I were gonna use a pellet it would be a head shot.

Those traps have worked in the past.

I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

95% of people are immune to leprosy and its easily treatable today. The threat of leprosy is fairly overblown.

Leprosy can be cured with 6-12 months of multi-drug therapy visiting 3 different doctors. You have to catch it early to avoid any disability. Not something I care to go through. It's only found in armadillo in Louisiana I believe.

Leprosy Still Occurs in U.S., CDC Reports
Experts estimate about 100 cases a year occur in America

Quote:
Approximately 100 new cases are reported in the United States each year, researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. That compares to about 250,000 cases that occurred worldwide in 2008, according to the CDC.

Quote:
Most U.S. cases occur in people who traveled to the United States from areas of the world where the bacterial infection is endemic, the study authors said.

Quote:
Leprosy does infect a few people born in the United States -- about 20 to 40 a year -- but is mostly a problem for people born outside the country who were infected before arriving here, Nolen said.

So we're looking at about 30/326766748 risk factor.

How do people get Hansen’s disease?

Interesting note from the article. 95% of all people have natural immunity to the disease.

Armadillo Recipes.

Armadillo in Mustard Sauce
Armadillo and Rice
Baked or Barbecued Armadillo

My personal preference is breaded and fried. I've eaten armadillo many times over the years and wouldn't pass up the chance to do it again. There's too damn many other things we do in life that are far more threatening to our health than eating a an Armadillo and we do those on a daily basis. An estimated 88,0008 people (approximately 62,000 men and 26,000 women) die from alcohol related causes annually, making alcohol the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States. The first is tobacco, and the second is poor diet and physical inactivity.

20-40 cases a year out of a population of well over 300 million. Total diseases from eating and coming into contact with wild game meat is much higher than that. Way overblown!!
