Can y'all make some recommendations for me? Is there any type of hearing protection where I can still hear a coyote running or a deer walking but mute the sound of my rifle? Where I hunt it's thick so if you just see them instead of hear them you'll never be ready. Any help is appreciated.

I put my hearing protection on when I see what I want to take. I keep them on my knee while in the blind.

I just quit wearing protection while hunting. Its just one shot and it never hurts my ears or makes them ring.
At the range I wear ear plugs and then ear muffs for double protection

Hearing damage is cumulative and insidious, y'all. Take care of your ears, you only get one pair. I've got tinnitus from shooting and it's annoying as hell.
To OP- just take your pick of any electronic hearing protection brand beside Caldwell. Everyone's got their preferences and they all work equally well, whether they're Walkers, Howard Leights, or Pro Ears.

This!!! I'm only 33 and have tinnitus pretty bad. I don't shoot anything that's not suppressed or with hearing pro at competitions.

Would these work just as well to wear while mowing the lawn? Could you put your music on at a reasonable volume and hear it? My current set that I wear while mowing forces the volume on the phone to max level for me to hear it while mowing. When I run it that loud without the mower going, it's incredibly annoying, so I realize what I'm doing to my ears for that hour and a half every week.

I bought active noise canceling ear buds for use while mowing. They do a pretty good job of muting the mower since they are active (battery powered) noise canceling. When running the brush hog behind the ATV, I can barely hear the mower and have to check if it's still running at times.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

Do yourself a favor and get a set of MSA Sordin supreme pro-x with the gel earcups. They are the most comfortable pair I've ever used. Now I wear them when I shoot, mow, use a grinder or pretty much any other time I'm around loud things including my ex. They are a bit pricey for earmuffs, but worth every penny. Like previously stated, you only get one set of ears and hearing damage is permanent.

My brother let me borrow some fancy earphones when we went to the range and I would only use them for that only...shooting...I like my ears to not be covered while hunting. They were freaking nice though.

really any decent pair of Electric headphones will fit your needs. The Howard Liegts are good as are the Walkers. Great stuff for way under $100
you can turn them up and hear EVERYTHING
Wearing ear muffs bother me after a short time, so I just keep those cheap earplugs on a string around my neck. When I get ready to shoot, I wet the plugs and shove them in FAR. After the shot takem out. 33 decibel perfect
one bonus, the loud shot is one less thing to take away your concentration

I own the Howard leights and they do not compare to the peltor sport 500 that I have.
Howard leight has a new bolt model coming out that I would look into. It should be released this week.
At the shot show, the peltor 300,500 and Howard leights bolts were the top earmuff releases for 2017

Once your hearing is damaged you'll never get it back. I can't tell you how miserable it is to deal with hearing loss and tinnitus 24/7.

I use the SportEar Ghost Stryke-1 earbuds. You can adjust the sound up or down (depending on how many crows are around you) and they protect your hearing. I wouldn't wear them to the range. I just use them for hunting.
