Anybody used one for deer/hogs?
Did you use stock barrel?
Ammo?

Yes, I've dispatched trapped pigs with my G20 and G29 in 10mm. It makes a great handgun for deer and pigs. I've only killed rabbits so far with the G40, which is a fabulous pistol. It has good penetration, and hits much harder than a 45. I use the stock barrel. I bought a Lone Wolf barrel for both my G20 and G29. It made the pistol a little more accurate, but it comes at a cost. The chamber is much tighter than the factory barrel is. This tight chamber caused 2 issues. 1- it raised my pressures in my ammo to where they were now a semi-hot load. It caused a little more pressure than what I would like. But it did gain some good speed, though. 2- the tighter chamber did not feed/chamber 100%. I had several rounds that hung up. I didn't like this, so I went back to the factory barrel. (If you want my Lone Wolf barrel, let me know.) Ammo, I load all the available bullets, but the 180 and 200 grain Hornady XTP shot the best. The 200 grain XTP is what I carry at the deer lease, and it's awesome on pigs. The only reason I load 10mm Auto ammo is because of the lack of good ammo options on the market. A lot of factory ammo is watered down 40 cal. Other ammo is 10mm +P ammo, and is way too hot for the Glocks. I load mine right in the sweet spot at normal max pressures for the 10mm, where the Glocks shoot very well. Ammo: http://dallasreloads.com/product-category/10mm-auto/

Yes, the Double Tap and Buffalo Bore ammo is generally a + P load.

I've shot numerous hogs with my Glock 20. I use Underwood 10MM 140 grain Xtreme Penetrator ammo. One shot to the head is all it takes. Most shots are 10-15 yards.
God bless John Wayne!

I carry a Glock 20 often, both in the city and country. It stays loaded with Underwood 180 Speer loads. That round is devastating.

I've found the Sig Sauer brand ammo in all caliber to be warm, but not too hot. In 10mm it's pushing a 180gr bullet at 1200 or 1250 fps. Plenty warm for deer and hogs. And it costs less than other brands as well.
I hear Chad loads great ammo, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy some loads from him to try as well.

Thanks for the info guys. My son bought a Glock 20 and is bound and determined to use it on a turkey in a couple of weeks and deer next season.

Can you take turkey with a pistol in the Spring? I always thought you had to use a shotgun.

[i] Can you take turkey with a pistol in the Spring? I always thought you had to use a shotgun. Per TPWD Shotguns are the only legal firearm that may be used to hunt Eastern turkey during the spring Eastern turkey season (see County Listing). Rifles and handguns may not be used to hunt Eastern turkey. Rios may be hunted with other lawful firearms during the appropriate season.

I have had good luck with the Sig stuff. Ive heard rumors of people using. 40S&W in their 10mm barrels, not that I would advocate it. Mine hasn't had an issue in 800 rds though.

Why shoot .40 out of the 20?

I use Chads ammo in my g40, functions perfect from day one. No chance to shoot real game with it yet.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting.......holy kaka.....What a Ride!

Why shoot .40 out of the 20? It's kinda hard to find 10mm ammo where I live. I don't reload. Instead of driving aways or ordering ammo, I can run to a local Wal-Mart and pick up a box of .40

I had about 1500 rounds of .40 and didn't have a .40 but did have a 10mm but didn't have any 10mm ammo.

I have my G20's loaded up with Underwood 135's right now, but I have shot everything from Buffalo Bore down to Hornady Critical Duty and it has handled them all perfectly.
I will say the Buffalo Bore ammo sounds like a rifle going off... Definitely can tell a difference in it and a normal factory load.
