Hey folks I picked up a couple old rifles as a partial payment of a debt and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them. My question is are there any gunsmits who are willing to break them down and clean/sand or whatever it takes to get them back in shape? Both have quite a bit of rust and the wood is pretty rough as well. Both are old model's that have seen better days. Please send me a PM if your interested in some rebuild work and as guess on the cost. Thank you First is a Winchester model 255 in 22mag Second is a Winchester model 74 in 22LR.

Any gunsmith can fix those up no problem by taking off the rust, re-bluing, sanding, and polishing the wood.
If you are into that sort of thing at all, it's a pretty easy DIY project.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I'm sure the cost wouldn't be exhorbitant but I'm guessing it would be a significant portion of each rifle's value. charlesb on here could probably give you a pretty good estimate.

Do you run any trotlines? No but I set out some limb lines behind my house from time to time.

After thinking about it over night I have an offer that I think is fair. If someone who knows what they are doing would thoroughly clean, re-blue, and refinish and stain the wood on the model 255 lever action I will give them the model 74 22lr. Elk

More than fair offer.
