No, have not had these problems. The "runaway discharge" happened after an Appleseed instructor repaired his own rifle... who knows if he had messed with the fire control group to change the trigger pull or not.

When the rifle first came out, S&W changed the springs to blue colored ones... these were to correct feeding and OOB issues if I remember correctly.

What happened at Appleseed is that they had an OOB discharge and someone was injured by the shrapnel. Appleseed quickly through S&W under the bus in order to shield themselves from blame and liability. However, I think Appleseed is just as much to blame as they stack their shooting lines elbow to elbow, with nothing between shooters to shield them if something were to happen.

OOB discharges can, and do happen with just about any .22lr. I've had it happen with my CMMG .22lr AR, and have seen it with Ruger 10/22s. Appleseed admits that they have seen OOB discharges with other rifles, but they never banned the whole line. Difference this time is the injury.

That's sort of what I figured was going on. I've seen runaway discharge on AR platform rifles before, but only when someone's been jacking with the trigger. They just aren't designed to be pulled down to 1 or 2 lb triggers, and when you do your asking for this type problem.

I have 6 of these rifles, the only issue I have ever had with them was the feed ramp broke off one of them. I sent it back via Cabelas and they replaced the rifle and sent me 10 15 round clips and a Smith and Wesson MP 22 15 soft case.

Two of mine wear a suppressor and they are some of my favorite guns.

I have heavily modded my mp-22. I run a slide fire on it, had to do a lot of work on the bolt to get it to run right, shortened firing pin spring, lots of polishing. never messed with the trigger though, just dropped in a 3lb velocity trigger. has never run away on me.

The only problem I ever had with mine was feeding issues.
