Fixing to get a new tripod for pig/coyote hunting. Looking at the bog pods and the trigger sticks. Would like a reaper grip but just don't really want to drop $500 bucks on a tripod I could easily forget laying next to a fencepost or something. Are there others I should consider? What y'all like?

I have the triggerstick gen2 bipod and the build quality is really nice and they do a really good job at what they're meant for. I wouldn't hesitate to get the tripod if it's anything like mine, it's made spot and stalk hunting a joy and I even use it in my pop up blind now.

I would highly recommend a BogPod tripod. Very sturdy but light for spot and stalk.

I've got Gen 1 Trigger Stix and a couple of the BogPod models. The BogPods are lighter and have a wider adjustment, the Trigger Stix are easier to adjust height quickly. Both are pretty good. If I'm carrying them for a while, I prefer the BogPods. Also, the BogPods can be used from the sitting position, one of my favorite field positions where there are no chiggers, and one of my least favorite shooting positions where there are lots of chiggers.
As I said, both are pretty good.

If you had to pick one which would you take? And which bog pod? Seems to have lots of different models.

For moving about in the field, the standard BogPod. For use from a blind, etc., the heavy duty version is nice, but I wouldn't want to carry it far. I've shot a reasonable amount of game at ranges over 200 yards using the standard BogPod. It will work well with a little practice and good technique.
By standard, I think the current model is the CLD3.

Lucket sticks work pretty good for me. They are made to run sitting up so they are out of you plan on using while standing.

Gen II Reaper Rest, and Slik tripod.
Rock solid if you know how to get steady in field positions. I've shot 1 MOA 500 yards, seated, and 2 MOA standing at 800 yards.

Infinitely adjustable, standing, seated, uneven terrain, and very sturdy. Camera tripods are everywhere. Got this one used for $10.00. Build a saddle from 1" x 2", glue, finish nailer and rubber coating. Krylon desert sand and a few screws through the mounting plate. I have $20 bucks in this. Weighs nothing and fits in my day pack.

I really like the Triggerstick tripod for the speed at which you can adjust and it is solid. I've taken an elk and an aoudad at about 370 yards each using mine. In one case, I'm quite sure I would not have had time to adjust a Bogpod in time for the shot.

I had a Bog Pod, but prefer the Trigger Stick, Gen 2. Replaced the "V" on top, with a Hog Saddle. Carried it in Colorado and really liked it. It is very stable and all three legs adjust simultaneously, but indepently, by pressing the trigger. It is very fast to adjust to a good position.

Nice! thanks for the input guys. I think I'm gonna get a trigger stick but may get a hog saddle or reaper grip to go with it. Whats the advantage to the slik tripod that the reaper grip comes with?

MDM,
I see the prices have gone up on the new model of the Hog Saddle. The company makes a less expensive version, the Pig Saddle. The only significant difference is weight, with the lighter one costing more. But having used the Hog Saddle and hauled it up and down in Colorado, it is a good product and definitely an improvement worth adding to the Trigger Stick. Worth the money and it should last a lifetime.

How does the Hog Saddle swivel up and down when attached to a Trigger stick?

I know some folks use a Manfrotto 190 or 55 with a 322rc2 Head. Carbon fiber is super light and expensive. aluminum is a lil cheaper and less.
And then add a Larue LT666x06 mount. The larue stays on gun and QD to the ball mount.
Gives the ability to hold weapon up to 19 pounds, squeeze the grip and gives the ability to follow game or make small adjustments.
I have the Primos Trigger stick gen 2. But will end up with the above.
