Have a lot of interest in the Glock 34. If you like the Glock 34 do you prefer Gen 3 or Gen4? slinger

If you like the back straps, get a gen 4.. what other competition handguns are we comparing this to?

My son and I both have shot 3 gun with the Gen 3 then Gen 4 Glock 34's. Both of us prefer the gen 4 mainly due to ambi capabilities as at the time we both shot lefty. He now shoots right a lot as he is back to right-eye dominant (long story). He has now switched to two Gen 4 19's one tricked out by Dawson and one a standard for work although it has a dept approved trigger upgrade.

I have tried similar styles of other brands to see if I shoot better or would like them more but for some reason Glocks just seem to fit me.

Either is great; my preference is for the Gen 4 because I like the built in beavertail option in the backstraps. Without a beavertail on my glocks they bite the snot out of my hand. The only real problem with the backstraps on the Gen 4 is that some of the aftermarket magwells will not accept the backstraps without modification. It isn't a big deal, I simply cut the bottom of the backstrap off flush with the top of the magwell. I then use double sided tape to attach the backstrap to the pistol. It isn't elegant but it works just fine.

If the Gen 3 fits your hands, then I'd just go that route and save yourself a bit of money and headache. If you run a Gen 3 and want a beavertail, the gripforce are cheap and work well.

My Gen 4 has aftermarket sights, guiderod, zev ultimate trigger kit, zev magwell and arredondo mag extensions. I'd say the most worthwhile mods were sights, magwell and mag extensions. Everything else is just fluff.

Believe it or not, I bought a Taurus 0SS tactical 9mm that seems to outshoot the glock 34's I've shot.

I love my G35. It's one of my favorite pistols to shoot. It's the same frame as the G34.

I love my G34 but if I had it to do all over again I'd buy a G35. With the G35 you can do the 9mm conversion and have a "bull barrel" with reduced recoil.
