Not much of a handgun dude, have Glock17 for personal protection and a Judge for protection and snakes.....just wondering, do all 1911 models allow a person to change/put on aftermarket grips..ie; mother of pearl or exotic woods. okiehuntr

Yes, just make sure you get the right grips for it. By that I mean officer, compact, and commander sizes.

yes, you can easily swap grips on just about any 1911. compact and officer grips are the same size, commander and Government grips are the same size. if you buy thin/slim grips they will require slim bushings and screws unless of course your 1911 already came with them.
a few exceptions are the Springfield emp, which has Officer size grip screw spacing but the shape of the grips is different/smaller. standard officer size grips would need modification to fit. the browning 1911 22 is a scaled down government model and because of that neither officer grips or government grips will fit it.
also double stack 1911's require a much thinner grip with a step/ledge on the back. standard 1911 grips will not work on them.
