Just bought a Savage Hog Hunter at the end of last year. Stock was quickly changed out, managed to find at Savage 10 Accustock from one of our forum members. After getting the stock fitted, new recon lug required, arrrrg, I took her to the range. Loader up the 10 round mag that came with the accustock, target acquired, bang........the mag drops out!!!!. So I also have a Savage 10, took the 4 round mag out of her, bang, no problem, so it the mag, right? Took the 10 round mag, and fitted her up to the Savage 10, bang, cycle bolt, bang, cycle bolt and so it goes on till the mag is empty, not issues with the mag dropping out. WTF. Anyone got any suggestions as to what it could be? I am thinking its the spring on the release, not sure though. Any advice would be appreciated.

Probably the spring. The 10 rounder weighs alot more when loaded. Just load 2 rounds in the 10 rounder and see if it still falls out.

I didn't have any issues with the mag dropping completely out of the stock if I'm reading that correctly. Only issue I have was sometimes a round would come out of the mag if I loaded it with all ten rounds and bumped the mag. I shot with this stock and mag in a long range comp and had no issues of the mag falling out of the rifle. You do have to make sure it is good and seated though. It does not like to be loaded on a closed bolt. Maybe the mag release spring has already worn out but I find that hard to believe it's only got about 100-150 rounds through it. Sorry to hear this, but I didn't have any issues with it before, I just wanted to upgrade to a chassis system.

How many times did it happen? Just once, as you wrote it up, or multiple times? (Did you accidentally hit the mag release?)

What bottom metal and magazine do you have?
If it is the factory bottom metal with a factory style magazine, you have to make sure that you insert the rear of the magazine all the way into the action, and then seat the front of the magazine until it locks in. If you fill it with 10 rds,and try to insert it into the rifle with the bolt closed, the magazine doesn't get fully locked into place and will fall out easily.

So I got a new spring from Savage, 2 bucks, and a weeks shipping, painful, well the shipping was!!. Fitted the new spring yesterday. I would of gone to the range then, however, it was blowing 30 plus knots, so I waited till today. So the new spring worked, loaded the mag all the way, and she never dropped out once KRoyal, you can see your old stock here, although you may not recognize it, I was happy for a first attempt at painting/spraying a stock. Pretty accurate as well, Outback ammo, 165g SGKs @ 100yds, dam that 'flyer' lol.
