If it is a 2.75 barrel it should not eject 3" shells. Don't have a clue.

If it says 2.75", ONLY shoot 2.75".

Chamber length has little to do with a guns ability to eject a spent hull. Ejection port size controls that.

Years ago Remington sold a 2 3/4" and 3" chambered barrel for standard receivers. They only had one gas port drilled in the barrel. The issue and one reason they probably don't sell it anymore is because not all spent 3" hulls would clear the ejection port. The other issue was because of only having one gas port it would no longer cycle low brass target/dove loads.

You shouldn't shoot 3" shells out if a 2 3/4" chambered gun for two reasons. The chamber isn't long enough and will cause excessive pressure with 3" shells. Also the standard barrel has two gas ports allowing too much gas to cycle the action with magnum 3" loads. You risk premature wear and broken parts.

TDK explained it well. Put an 11-87 barrel on it and never worry again about what you feed it....

That action was specifically made for 2 3/4 shells. I have an 1100 trap gun.
