i was looking around in my Nosler book and happened upon loading info for the 30TC. Other than it being a hair shorter than the 308, it's pretty much the same as the 308 and not much different from the 300 Savage. I'm wondering what gap was filled by the 30TC? Why would a fellow want one?

The 30tc filled the same role as the 6 and 6.5 creedmoor. Those rounds fit heavy for caliber bullets inside a 2.8-2.9 inch magazine.
Hornady dropped the ball by not offering the 30tc ammo with 200-230 grain bullets. Oh well, that ship has sailed.

I've wondered the same thing since they came out with it.

Thank goodness they did. If not we would not have the Creedmoor liniage and have less choices.

You can form the Creedmore from several cases, and I've read that the original case used was actually the 250 Savage Ackley Improved, which does predate the 30TC. Not that it matters.

Could be although I have never read that ......but I use Lapua 22-250 brass in the Creedmoor so it absolutely will work. In fact thats is one of the upsides of having a 22 Creedmoor you can actually shoot 22-250 ammo in it in a pinch.
