I started off my Independence Day celebrations with a Garand match. Shot my best so far with a score of 425 out of 500. I'm most proud of my slow fire prone, scoring a 194 with 8 Xs! I totally choked in the standing freehand (had three misses!), but I still came home with a third place badge.

My club is in Lyons (near Somerville). We shoot every 1st and 3rd Saturday. Feel free to join us. Don't be scared to come if you don't have the experience, gun (most shoot Garands, 1903/1903a3, or ARs), or ammo. We can help you with the first and we have club guns and ammo you can buy. http://www.bvsra.org/

I saw a drastic tightening of my group size by going to handloads. The surplus Greek will shoot all within the black, but with my handloads I went from 2 Xs to 10 Xs. In case anyone is wondering, below is my load:

Brass: HXP
Primer: CCI 34
Powder 47 gr. Varget
Projectile: 168 gr. HPBT Nosler Custom Competition

WELL DONE!!!! cheers

I gotta get out that way and stretch out the Garands, A3's, and Pattern 17.

You did MUCH better than I would do standing freehand.
