I am trying to find out where to look to find out history of an older pistol that has been handed down to me. All I can see is that is was made by Toledo Fire Arms. I've tried to clean it up a little with Never Dull.

Those guns were actually made by Hopkins and Allen. HA produced many inexpensive revolvers in the late 1800s and early 1900s under many different name brands. I believe the Toledo brand was sold at Sears. The spur trigger guns of the time were often referred to as "suicide specials".


When dealing with antiques of any kind, its usually best not to clean any patina or corrosion off until you consult an expert. Removing the original patina can destroy the collector value.

Generally, "Spur Trigger" indicates a rimfire revolver. If its .22, your good, if its .32, good luck finding ammo (if shooting it is your intent).
