I am buying a new barrel for my encore pistol. my main interest is varmits and possibly javelina. my choices would be 243, 223 or the 22/250. which one would be the better choice in that 15 inch barrel. I know they don't have much recoil compaired to my 7mm/08. thanks

Id probably go with a 22-250 out of those 3. Just because I've been thinking about buying one in a bolt gun soon.

I would usually agree with .22-250 out of those three, but given the 15" bbl I go with 243.

If you already have a 7-08 I would go .223

Bear in mind the rate of twist is usually slower in .22-250 barrels than in .223 barrels; at least as they come from the factory. I would probably pick the .223 or the .243, myself.

223, the more overbore a cartridge is the more velocity will be lost at shorter barrel length.
I would also be looking for a 1:8 or 1:7 twist barrel for the 223 for using heavier bullets when wanted.
