I finally got a chance to test out the HK VP 9 and i was thoroughly impressed.  This is a group of 10 at 8 yards without a single flyer even from me. I put 100 rounds through the gun using 3 different types of ammo. I didn't have a single failure of any kind with any ammo. I cleaned and lubed her before the first range visit. I was shocked that after 100 rounds it was still lubed throughout and clean as a whistle.  It looked like i had put 2 magazines through the gun. The trigger is much better IMO than any HK P30 or USP i have shot in the past. I am glad HK went back to a striker fired pistol like the legendary P7. The HK forum claims the VP9 is manufactured with the same quality components as the P30. The reason it is $200 cheaper is less moving parts. Striker fired pistols are cheaper to produce than hammer fired pistols. I am glad HK now offers a quality firearm under $600.

What didn't you like about it? What have you shot that is similar that you did like? Glock, M&P, XD, FN, others? I have an M&P 9 and while I like it ok, I wouldn't miss it if there was something out there that I liked better (can't stand Glock, though).

It's been a challenge finding spare magazines...luckily my local gunshop had two.

I wish they had these for rent at more ranges, looks really appealing . They seem to be easy enough to find for purchase, minus the le version

It's another striker-fired pistol. Same things I don't like about all of em: bad trigger and lightweight, jumpy recoil.

I've had, and put thousands of rounds through Glocks, XD, XDM, and M&P. I don't think one is any better than another.
