I am moving to the DFW area in Jan and am looking for a really good gunsmith in the area. I have a Model 1903 Mannlicher Schoenaur in 6.5x54MS that I want to get scoped. I have an set of mounts for this rifle and need to get the put on. This will require drilling and tapping on the side since it is a split receiver. So 'm looking for someone really good to do the job since these rifles are very hard to come by and this is a one shot deal and must be done right.

Before anyone gets their panties in a twist about ruining the value of the rifle, that isn't important to me since I will never sell it. My old eyes are getting to the point that the open sights are getting hard to use and if I scope it I can continue to use it and it is a really sweet little rig. So, can anyone recommend a good smith for me to look into?

Find Doc's Gun shop in Carrollton, 1600 Whitlock Ln ( little white frame house on the NWest corner and facing south ) 1 block east of 1-35 & the 1st exit south of the GWBush) 972-245-2955. www.docsgunshop.com according to the Bidneez Card. Be sure to talk to Doc himself...big heavy set tall guy ummmm going bald. Been using him for 20-30 years and he's no more grumpy today than he was way back then, and usually booked up solid for new builds and such after about April or May.

FWIW Doc's is the only guy in Dallas I know that's revenue stream is primarily from his gunsmith work, and all the other stuff in the place is there as a courtesy for his customers....if you get my meaning.
