Haven't been in a few years, is there any "good stuff" there or a bunch of cheap Japanese/Chinese knock-off junk, beef jerky, blow-guns and over-priced old stuff that vendors don't seem to want to sell?

Good stuff: high quality rifles and shotguns, or is there just mainly handguns and AR's there?

No where near as good as it was even 2 years ago. When everything hit the fan no gun show has been the same.

Sad, Not been in a while, thought about making a trip....

So Mesquite and Ft Worth likely are no better? What do locals do? Fave shops? I know many smiths abound and ranges in the area.

I have been doing gun shows for years, NONE of them is the same as the "good old days" like 2 years or more back.
When every show we went to there was new "Tactical" company's out there, then the AR bubble popped.
The first shows I dropped was Market Hall, and the Larger Ft Worth shows.
Big Town don't have that feel it had before the remodel, Rodeo has been hit and miss, some of the others OK.
BUT we have a new Lewisville show, small but a lot of fun. Has that fun factor that the "old" Big Town had.
That being said, IF I wanted to burn a day, Market Hall is a good way to do it.

The only thing they are good for is fingering pistols, and quick ar parts. Other than that meh

If you are looking to buy new then you will probably like it. Plenty of new guns at good prices. If looking at the used market then you will be highly disappointed! Most of the used stuff is priced as new.

Only reason I even go to shows anymore is for odd ball boxes of ammo at deep discounts. And every once in a while you can run across a deal on a used scope.

some things are decent there. I've found some good deals on pistols but a lot of over priced items. Went to the Fort Worth show last time and it wasn't impressive at all

There's plenty of good stuff but don't expect $1000 rifles to be $300 like 90% of the people walking the show. People walking seem to have higher prices than the dealers these days.

Have not been to a Market Hall show in over 3 years. Always an entertaining way to spend a few hours. Over the years have run across some good deals at that show, some of my favorite rifles and pistols have come from there.

I go for the 100 sheet rolls of targets. The entry fee is cheaper than shipping. After that, hit or miss and mostly miss.

I went today. Most everything was overpriced and it seems like most of the people there are the typical "salesmen" lie to make a sale and even lie to make a buy.

Found a gun I had been looking for and P-Mags for $8. Buddy found a nice used OU shotgun. Went on Saturday and it wasn't crowded.

I agree. Seems like the "slime" factor has increased about tenfold at gun shows since I used to frequent them in the early '90s. Most dealers are like used car salesmen these days-talking to you like you're an idiot as they try to sell you something. I rarely go anymore.

Late to post here, but I took my son who was visiting from out of town and wanted to check it out. It's been well over a year since I attended Market Hall, and the slime factor on Saturday was off the charts.

My son, though, was looking to add another Glock 19 to his stable and we noticed that virtually all of the vendors selling new pistols did not have prices shown for new Glocks of any flavor. Most vendors had them marked POR or some such other nonsense. I finally asked one of the gentleman working one of these booths why his Glocks (and only Glocks) were marked POR. He fidgeted around for a minute and then finally gave me some BS answer about how prices were so volatile that they didn't want to post them. Maybe the vendors are tired of folks doing some comparison shopping and then trying to negotiate every Glock purchase, but I don't buy the "price volatility" explanation.

I'd be curious if anyone has more insight into this POR pricing strategy. I personally find it a little insulting that a seemingly reputable vendor would refuse to post a price. Besides, a little time on the internet, and I can beat any price at that show.

Shoot, I love guns shows! It's GUNS, guys! Yeah, you gotta put up with a little bull, but I go just to see what's out there and to appreciate some of the ones I see.

If you are a buyer or seller I could see how they aren't much fun, particularly if you are trying to sell to a vendor.

It's simple and just what you said: don't want to post a price so as not to be "shopped" because they know they are too high. Plus, look around. There are a bunch of, shall we say, non-knowledgeable folks walking the aisles these days. If one will stand around long enough for the "used car salesman" pitch the guy may be able to sell his Glock 17 for $600-700.
