We just picked up two of these from Cabelas for the kids. Both of them in .243. Both of the rifles shot a 3-shot a 3/4" group at 100 yards.
These were my first Savage rifles and I'm pretty impressed with this combo and accuracy right out of the box.
Anyone else have good luck with this particular combo or did I just get lucky?

I bought my daughter the exact same thing earlier this year, and got the exact same results. It likes 95 gr. Hornady SST's. Great rifles for the $.

I've got a 111 in .270 that came as a combo. The guy I bought it from upgraded the scope from a 3-9 to a 4-12. Same pro staff though. It'll shoot 1" groups. And probably better. I still have some fundamentals to work on. But it outshoots me for sure. I just wish mine has an accutrigger, but I'm putting a Timney in it very soon.

Love the Savage line of rifles. I am not one for package combos but they give you some decent glass. Let the kidos shoot the barrels out of the .243 then when their bigger rebarrel for 6.5 CM! I love tinkering with stuff and building off a Savage action is too easy.

But savage did it right IMO by including a name brand scope, and not cutting any corners on it. It's a regular Nikon pro staff. And that scope is adequate for 99% of hunters who are buying a rifle/scope combo. I would never buy the 770 Remington combos because they include a no name cheapy scope that I wouldn't have any confidence I.
