I am debating whether or not to get a paddle holster for my 1911. I am constantly having to take it off and put it back. I am thinking a paddle holster might be a good compromise. Is there any one that are better than others? More comfortable. My current holster is a very worn Galco combat master.

I have a small collection of holsters depending on where I'm going to be carrying. As much as possible I prefer to use a paddle holster; for easy on/off and because I don't have to tighten my belt quite as much. I use a Fobus for my 380, which stays concealed under a shirt, and it works good for that sized gun...then for my Springfield XD Subcompact I use their "XD Gear" paddle holster when carrying (openly) in the woods. Both are comfortable with good retention, but very low budget. I'll be trying one of these next, when I get my 1911: https://www.highnoonholsters.com/leather-holsters/paddle-holsters

Only way to carry a heavy sidearm, the biggest mistake people make is buying a cheap POS.

I've tried several paddle holsters from Fobus, Safariland and others. I really don't see the advantage to them and don't use any of them anymore. The ones that worked well and stayed on my waist when I drew had a good hook that caught the bottom of the belt. To take the holster off I had to unbuckle my belt to get the hook past it. The only time the paddle holster saves is moving the belt through a couple of belt loops when you take it off. And I didn't like having that big paddle making my hip all sweaty.
I much prefer a regular outside the waistband belt holster to a paddle holster.

I'm probably doing it wrong but I wear mine with the paddle inside my pants, outside of my underwear.

I have had very good luck with the safariland laminate paddle. It adjusts and rides very comfortably.

Fobus. Fast on and off, never an issue and comfortable to me. But like someone above said, inside the pants not on the belt. They aren't designed to be on the belt...too much play or flopping around if doing that.

I have a "cheap" paddle holster that I absolutely love made by Hogue. I love it positive retention through an integrated thumb break. I'm going to be buying a holster from Dora for a new pistol soon -- only heard good things about them but no actual experience. As for wearing, I too wear inside my waistband and outside my underwear.
