Anyone shoot a sporter barrel, not floated or bedded, original older walnut stock off a bipod? When I had this stock off I realized how rigid it was, so I'm thinking I wouldn't see any difference in accuracy.

You won't know until you try it, and try it both ways. For initial testing of a rifle, I shoot all hunting rifles without a bipod. The bipod can induce stress to the rifle and throw shots off. I've seen it many times.

The bipod does 2 things:

1- it will add pressure to the barrel that is not free floated and can cause shots to go random.

2- it can put added stress at the mating of the action and stock, causing inconsistencies during shooting.

Both of these add up to random shots and open groups. Also, with it this hot out, barrels will heat up very quickly. This added heat can easily cause additional issues. Keep the barrel cool and shoot 3-4 shot groups until you figure out what the rifle is doing. I've seen some hunting rifles that were a great 2 shot rifle, and shots 3+ would be off. Shoot your rifle enough to know its personality. They all have one!

From the bench with a rest it groups very well. I'm wanting to varmint hunt with this set up so was wondering about the tall Harris I have.

Try it and see. That's the only way you will know. Put the rifle through it's paces shooting with it in various configurations, and you will know.

I will. Had I heard, "absolutely no, won't work, too much flex, etc......" I wouldn't waste ammo. Thanks.

As long as the forearm doesn't touch the barrel, while the forearm is supported by a bipod, there's a chance.

Verify the action screws are torqued to 65 in/lbs. before shooting.

65? I've got it at 45. That not right for wood?
