Where is a good place to get a gun valued. I checked gun broker but there's a big difference in values.

Can always take it to cabelas or bps. Just let them know u don't want to sell before they appraise it. Gun blue book is always good, but doesn't calculate current markets. Or tell us what u have and maybe we can help.

Gun blue book didn't work for me kept giving me other pages and what not. I have a Ruger Magnum 416 rigby. Gun broker has two one priced at 1699 and another at 2399 something like that

If you have a gunbroker account you can search for closed auctions and see what people actually paid.

They sold one at bud guns for 1806.00 when they were in stock.

Depending on condition that is probably what I would ask.

If this is the 77 mk 2 $2399 is over MSRP. Unless there is something unusually special about the gun (exceptional wood, Mercury reducer, custom barrel...) "street price" for a used one is $1400 to $1500. These guns and CZs are really great values for big bore guns.

There is a forum dedicated to Africa Hunting (.com) that also has a classified section like the THF. You can get a pretty good idea of big bore prices browsing the for sale threads over there.

Well I've been doing some online research can't tell if it's the mk77. It don't have it marked anywhere on the rifle. But then again the ones I've seen don't have it on them either.

It's a 77 if it has a tang safety. If it has a 3-position wing safety on the bolt, it's a 77 Mk.II.

I'm not an expert by any means but I've never seen a factory Model 77 (manufactured '68-'92) chambered in .416. I believe the only big bore the original M77 was chambered in was .458 Win.

The M77 Mark II is/was chambered in .375, .404 Jeff, and .416. If your gun has a bolt and a 3 position safety chances are it's a M77 Mark II.
