Can a 223 suppressor be used for a 22lr suppressor? Thanks in advance.

You could, but it would be a bad idea. Too much lead build up from .22 LR. Short answer is no, don't do it.

Not an ideal situation, but yes it could be used. It will likely be sealed if it is a 223 can, and you will likely get quite a bit of crud inside of it shooting 22LR in it. I use my rimfire suppressors so much (many people do) that I would try to budget for 2 cans if at all possible.

Thats the best advise. You will build up an immense amount of lead inside of the can and it will have to be sent back to the manufacturer to be opened up and cleaned unless you can pull your can apart. I would never shoot 22 LR through my 5.56 cans. 22 LR is very dirty in regard to shooting suppressed.

Take a look at the Liberty Mystic X. Unfortunately, it's only a little more money to buy two dedicated suppressors.

Just get a second .22 suppressor. They're very inexpensive for the most part.

Yep, it'll absolutely work.

And as long as you aren't dumping thousands of rounds of .22lr through it every range trip, your suppressor will be perfectly fine. There are plenty of people that shoot .22 through their larger caliber cans, and just follow it up with a few rounds of .223 or .308 or whatever to clear out whatever carbon and lead deposits were left by the .22lr.

Ask any suppressor manufacturer, and they'll tell you the same.

Sure.

Take it apart and clean it when you're done.

Most 5.56/.223 cans are not user serviceable. That's why shooting .22 though a 5.56 can becomes an issue.

Right. That's why I hoped he gathered to buy one that can be disassembled.

I only own a .30 cal suppressor, and shoot everything through it. But I've not tried a .22 lr yet. If I do, I'll take it apart and clean it.

Best way that I've found to clean my suppressors is Berryman's Chem-Dip. Place the baffles and end caps in the little basket, lower it into the can of Chem-Dip,and let it set for a couple days.
You can wipe everything off with a rag/paper towel. No scrubbing/scrapping/cussing!
