Anyone know anyone that may still do this process. Trying to see if I can get a bolt gun Color case hardened color by doing this process.

If doing the barreled action go ahead and get the rings done at the same time, makes for a nice look.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

I think Briley does it. I saw a video of them doing it years ago.

The part gets pretty hot during the process, and is held at the high temperature for a while... This may be why we do not see very many bolt-action receivers color case-hardened, but instead it shows up more often on single-shots and lever guns.
Mauser uses beautiful color-case hardening on some parts of their bolt guns, but I do not remember seeing it on the receivers.
If somebody says that they can do it, I'd make reeeeealy sure that they know what they are doing, and can prove it.

Yeah we did lots of research yesterday. The Cyaide would work but no one does that anymore. The Color case hardening has to get up to like 1400 deg. Would make a Action turn into a noodle. Not going there will find another way to do it maybe something creative on cerakote.

Dakota uses some process that uses bone in there case hardening/annealing phase, gives great color.

I'm unsure of what steel stiller uses, but would assume the CM versions are 4140. Typically these don't color as well as 8620 or lower carbon steels and I typically recommend against CCH.
As far as an action turning into a noodle...not going to happen if done properly with steps to decrease warpage. of course I'm not building bench style guns.
I've personally done my share of CCH(bone and charcoal)so I speak with a little experience. Nobody I am aware of does cyanide coloring. No way would I cch a barrel.
