went to the Texas Ranger Museum this morning, and took the grandkids. The museum had been updated a bit. They had one of the new Texas Ranger Rifles on display. It appeared to be a Larue Tactical AR10 type rifle in 308. Barrel length is 14.5 inches. Very impressive. It was one of those things that I really don't need, but would like to have. A very serious piece of equipment. Wonder what it cost.

WHAT? Seems a little steep, even for Larue standards. A M82A1 Barrett is $10k.. A JP LRP-07 is $3500, and all the LaRue rifles listed on the website hover in the $3000-$3500 range.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

It was the museum in Waco, right by the Baylor campus. As for price, I was really wondering what a functioning rifle in that setup would cost. This one had the Texas Ranger design in the left side of the mag well. I wonder if it was full auto, with selector switch. I didn't look for that on the side.

About $3k for your choice of 308 OBR, tOBR or tAR. Once you add in good glass and LT mounts and accessories, you'll be over $5k.

I know a Texas Ranger and he told me that they were truly disappointed in the performance of these rifles. Said if you could run 30 rounds through one without a problem you were lucky.

Watch out, if you say anything bad about LaRue rifles, you'll get all the fanboys riled up.

If you're lucky, Mark himself might even make an appearance to call you an idiot like he does on AR15.com.

Mark can be a little cocky and condescending at times but he does make a fine product that he stands behind. He also cares enough about his company and product to actively participate on gun forums which is more than you can say about alot of companies & owners. What other companies have a monthly giveaway comparable to the UHFO or giveaway tons of merchandise & send xmas cards in December? I was a little perturbed with LT during the great tOBR fiasco but they more than made up for it.

Today Mark is giving away pink MBTs. One to a guy building rifle for his daughter and another to a guy building a rifle for his wife while she's under going cancer treatment.

MBT

It's not bs just stating what I was told. I don't appreciate being called a liar by someone who doesn't know the facts. So please keep your snide comments to yourself.

I've handled and shot multiple different Larue AR's and didn't notice anything special about them at all. I'd never pay what they are asking nor would I wait any amount of time for one of their rifles. Just personal preference.

There's a reason I have Devildog on the ignore list.

I dont really think the 5.56 versions are all that special. Seems like there are plenty of accurate AR15s out there these days. But their 7.62 platforms are nice and accurate.

Didn't call you a liar, but I have my doubts about your friend.

Think about it; there's no way one of top manufacturers would have that many guns malfunctioning. Are you aware how good they are? I could see one every few thousand having a problem.

What are the facts? What kind of ammo, suppressed/unsuppressed, magazines? What type of failures? FTFs, FTEs? What did Larue do to rectify or correct the problem?

I'm saying I'm calling BS on there being that many (or any) problems at all. It's a LaRue....
