Thinking about doing a little trigger work in my ar. Anyone ever done the jp spring kit? How much did it help? I'm not opposed to buying a full replacement geissele or something but if I can make a significant improvement for $10 I'd be ok with that too.

I put JP reduced power springs on a milspec trigger and it made a little difference. But like Buzz said, just get a better trigger. It does make a huge difference. I run Geissele SSA-E's in my AR's and love them.

I just finished my Crusader lower and used an ALG. Came with 4.5# and 6# spring. It's probably not great but better than the standard ones that come in the lpk pack.

I picked up Rock River Arms has a two stage match trigger that was on sale for about $80. It's a great improvement over the stock triggers. I may still get a Gisselle SSA-E.

A set of JP yellows & a Spike's BT makes a nice improvement for ~$60.

I tweak the hammer spring legs where the hammer has a little less spring pressure on it by simply winding the spring maybe 1/4 of the way around more and then polish the trigger and hammer and it makes a stock trigger pretty nice. Basically all the jp springs are is a little lighter spring you can achieve the same lighter weight by doing what I described above. If you tweak the spring too far you will start getting light primer strikes but it doesn't take much to make the trigger significantly better. I can send you a picture of one of mine so you can use it to see how far to go on yours. Worth a shot before you replace it.
