Any good calibers for a 12" AR10 to hunt hogs/deers with within 300 yards.
Was hunting the other day, I had a 22" 6.5CM and my brother carrying a suppressed 300blackout 8". We took out 3 pigs from 250-300 with the 6.5 easy. Didn't want to try with the 300blk.
Any recommendations for a SBR big caliber? Trying to keep it short and easy to weld. Saw a big within 20 feet walking around and the 300blk shorty was fun and easy to handle.

In load development finalization for a 16" .308 gas gun.
It looks like I will get a 155 gr TMK to 2600 fps MV, with a 10" suppressor.
So going by the rule of thumb, the 12" barrel might make 2520 fps MV with the same weight of bullet.

I love a 300 blk out. Push a 125 or 110 grain V-max in an SBR, and it will do well in an SBR platform. A 308 Win will give you more powder, but it is also be an AR-10 platform, instead of the lighter AR-15 platform for 300 blk out.

Of course, a 6.5 Creedmoor loaded with 130 Hybrids would be awfully sweet.

Somebody has to be first.
I could not find a single bit of data for the 7 Rem Mag shooting 180's. I experimented and shared what I learned.

You know an AR makes less velocity than a bolt action, and you know for every inch of barrel you chop off you loose 20-25 fps. Use those estimations to help you decide what to do.

To me it only makes sense to SBR if Im losing more inches than the length of my pecker. So I prefer a 7.5 or 8" barrel. A 12" barrel is only losing you a few inches for a $200 stamp, wait time, and at that point you're just compensating
