Had another thread going about a trigger issue with a Timney trigger and a Rem 700. I commented on the thread that it was a .243 purchased at Walmart, and was a basic SPS style ADL gun. The last poster on that thread commented that the 700s sold to Walmart are of a different quality than the same Rem 700 model sold to any other store. I am not buying it, what say everyone else. Are their different quality levels of action / bolts, between Remington 700 models and or who they are sold too?? I understand the barrel, stock, and finish are different on various models, but quality of the action?

I have what's left of a Wal-Mart 700 with a Jewell in it that works fine.

There may be some models that are exclusive to certain retailers but the 700 action it self should be the same across the board except for maybe the finish

They have SKU's devoted to certain box stores. I don't know about 700's, but 870 Express are different internal components based on that SKU and serial number.

That's been problematic for several manufacturers over the years. Savage, Marlin, H&R, Mossberg have all had brand erosion from dealing with pricing demands from major buyers, and the costs that come from dealing with them.

The new ownership at Savage probably saved the company by refusing to do that anymore.

Same thing happens with other things, Redfield, for example, or Leupold Rifleman, are built to compete in a specific market/range, not built to be the best.

They do not have different internals... They may have different configurations, such as synthetic stocks vs. hardwood, different barrel lengths, magazine tube lengths, etc., but the receiver, bolt and action are all the same on a Remington 870 express from Walmart vs. a local gun store. The only differences on internals are when comparing levels such as Express vs. Wingmaster.

I'd like to see some verification or proof of that.
